There are ponies who command a room, and then there is Steendieks Carlo Carlucci — known to his devoted admirers simply as Lucci — who has been commanding rooms since the day he was born in 2015 to the distinguished FS Chambertin and the elegant Steendieks Clarissa. At 14.3 hands, he is not the tallest pony in the barn, but make no mistake: he is always the most important.
Social to the marrow, sweet in the most disarming way, Lucci is invariably the barn darling wherever he goes — the one that grooms linger over, the one that visitors seek out, the one whose stall door always seems to be attracting company. And yet, when the work begins, something shifts. The sociable charmer becomes a focused, serious athlete — a professional who takes his job as earnestly as his admirers take him.
Before his life in America, Lucci lived as a stallion in Germany for several seasons, contributing his exceptional bloodlines to the next generation before making the transition to gelding and crossing the ocean. He now calls North Carolina home with an adult amateur who found in him everything she was looking for: a pony who is utterly loveable on the ground and absolutely magnificent in the saddle.
